We’re pleased to present to you María! She has joined KEA as a Research Trainee with the purpose of acquiring new skills and knowledge in the field of European projects and policy research.
Now, let’s take a moment to get to know her better!
Tell us more about your background and your interests at work
I’ve always been interested in the intersection between the arts and the business world. My academic background in Business Administration, and Cultural Heritage, together with my work experience at Christie’s and Deloitte, has given me the tools to explore this niche. I enjoy conducting research on socio-cultural trends, working on projects with artists and policy makers, and solving problems. I look forward to putting my academic knowledge into practice, and to deepening my understanding of European cultural policies.
Your mission at KEA and what you want to bring to the table
I’ve spent the last few years doing in-depth research on cultural affairs, as well as working in different countries and sectors. I hope to be able to apply my diverse skillset to KEA’s projects, to help tackle challenges together with the team. Academically, I am especially interested in the relationship between cultural heritage and collective memory. I am interested in further exploring what the cohesive power of culture looks like in practice.
At KEA, I hope to further develop my research capacities, and to learn about practical tools (e.g. funding instruments for the CCIs). Finally, I bring to the table extensive language skills and international experience, as well as a personal passion for the subject!
Tell us something you love to do outside of work!
I love reading and writing, and in my free time I spend a lot of time exploring second-hand bookshops. I also enjoy going to concerts, dancing, and swimming. But most of all, I love getting together with my friends to explore the cultural scene of Brussels!
