The objective of this feasibility study was the reinforcement of EU action in developing its cultural, commercial and cooperation policies. The study aimed to evaluate existing initiatives concerning the organisation of European film markets and festivals and analysing how these initiatives could be reinforced, in synergy with other initiatives present in the field (and carried out by cultural and film agencies, embassies, local festivals). The report assessed all the existing resources and initiatives and sets out the conditions for their optimisation. It proposed to the European Commission a series of financial and logistic measures in view of strengthening the EU support to the promotion of European cinema in third countries. Further to the completion of this feasibility study, the Commission launched a new support measure within the MEDIA programme.
