For the Belgian Federal Ministry of Economy
KEA and the University of Namur launched a study examining the deployment of technological protection measures on a range of relevant markets (music, audiovisual, publishing) and its impact on the private copying exception as laid down by the Belgian law implementing the EU Copyright Directive (2001/29/EC). The study provides a detailed legal analysis of the provisions regulating the private copying exception in Belgium as well as in other European countries. Based on the results of the legal and market analysis, the study proposes a compensation model which takes into account technological and market developments.
