Study on “Music Moves Europe – a European Music Export Strategy”

Project summary

This study supported the development of a European Music Export Strategy aimed at promoting Europe’s music diversity and talent internationally, while enhancing the competitiveness of the European music sector. It examined existing national export strategies, international market access (including China, Canada, South Africa, and the USA), and the challenges faced by European music exports. The study also assessed cross-border mobility within Europe and proposed recommendations for EU and national-level action.

KEA's contribution

KEA led the research and analysis, conducting desk research, interviews, surveys with export bureaux, and data collection. It developed market analyses for four key international territories and mapped existing export support mechanisms. KEA contributed to drafting the final study and policy recommendations, helping shape the EU’s strategic approach to music export.
