Sport diplomacy: Identifying good practices

Project summary

The study aimed to identify good practices in sport projects with an international dimension, particularly those involving non-EU countries and contributing to a stronger international presence for Member States. The research highlighted successful applications of skills, knowledge, and expertise by sports federations and NGOs in areas such as disadvantaged youth, disability, gender, health, refugees, and major events. Policy recommendations were developed to support capacity building and EU-level sport-for-development initiatives.

KEA's contribution

KEA performed desk research, interviews, mapping initiatives in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, drafting case studies on key initiatives, and supporting dissemination and knowledge sharing. KEA contributed policy recommendations and insights on scaling sport diplomacy initiatives for EU and international impact.
