Project summary

This study explored the feasibility of establishing a European Music Observatory and analysed market trends and funding needs for the music sector. Structured in two parts, the first (led by Panteia) assessed the potential for a data collection organisation to support evidence-based policy. The second part (led by KEA) focused on analysing market dynamics, identifying funding gaps, and mapping stakeholders to support future EU-level music support measures.

KEA's contribution

KEA led the second part of the study, conducting desk research, interviews, surveys with ministries of culture, and data analysis. It developed a European inventory of music stakeholders and provided policy recommendations to guide future EU support for the music sector, contributing to the strategic foundation for a European Music Observatory.
