CrowdFunding Wallonia

Project summary

This study explores the scope and practices of online crowdfunding across all cultural sectors in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. It aims to map the main platforms used by cultural organisations, analyse the different models of crowdfunding (donations, rewards, equity, loans, hybrid models such as match-funding), and assess the legal and regulatory environment. The research combines data scraping, quantitative analysis, stakeholder consultations, and case studies to provide policymakers with reliable evidence and actionable recommendations. By examining both opportunities and barriers, the study will highlight how crowdfunding can complement traditional funding systems, diversify resources, and strengthen community engagement around culture.
