Atlas of Cultural Policies for climate change and heritage: Pathways and Perspectives from Ibero–America and the Caribbean

Project summary

Commissioned by the British Council, the Atlas project aims to map and analyse cultural policies that address climate change and heritage preservation across eleven Ibero-American and Caribbean countries. It explores how cultural policy frameworks integrate climate resilience, sustainability, and indigenous knowledge systems, and identifies opportunities for cross-sectoral collaboration. The research includes literature reviews, policy mapping, stakeholder analysis, and case studies. It highlights trends, challenges, and best practices in cultural governance, with a focus on tangible and intangible heritage under climate threat. The Atlas will serve as a strategic tool for policymakers, cultural institutions, and international organisations to strengthen climate-conscious cultural policy.
