At the beginning of October, we proudly submitted the candidacy dossier for Moncalieri’s bid to become Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2028. This marked the culmination of a year-long journey of co-creation, vision-building, and deep community engagement.
Today in Torino, we had the honour of presenting the candidacy to policymakers and regional stakeholders from the Regione Piemonte — a key milestone in building momentum ahead of the final selection in March 2026. We extend our sincere thanks to Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region, Marina Chiarelli, Councillor for Culture of the Piedmont Region, and Rosanna Purchia, Councillor for Culture of Turin, for their valuable interventions.
In partnership with Pierluigi Sacco (ARTECO) and the City of Moncalieri, KEA designed and coordinated a participatory process that:
🔹 Secured a €4.8 million investment commitment through dedicated fundraising
🔹 Engaged over 150 stakeholders
🔹 Activated 6 cultural sectors via targeted focus groups
🔹 Received 100+ project proposals through an open call
🔹 Established the Comitato Giovani, giving youth a structural role in the process
🔹 United 13 municipalities around a shared metropolitan vision
Rooted in Moncalieri’s unique identity and aligned with European agendas such as the SDGs and the New European Bauhaus, the dossier reimagines the relationship between centre and periphery. It positions the city as a driver of inclusive cultural development within the Turin metropolitan area.
