Join KEA in Brussels for the Art Explora Festival conference on cultural mobility and cultural rights

How can Europe support the international circulation of artists, artworks and cultural initiatives while ensuring meaningful engagement with local communities and strengthening cultural rights?

On 18 November 2026, KEA European Affairs will co-organise the Art Explora Festival Conference: Rethinking Cultural Mobility for a Europe of Cultural Rights, bringing together cultural professionals, artists, researchers and policymakers to discuss the future of cultural mobility in Europe.

The conference marks an important milestone for the Art Explora museum boat project, which, over the past three years and with the support of the Creative Europe Programme, has travelled across the Mediterranean, completing 14 stopovers and welcoming more than 420,000 visitors. As this first phase comes to a close, the event offers an opportunity to reflect on the lessons learned and explore new approaches to cultural exchange and participation.

The conference will be opened by Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport, setting the stage for a day of discussions on how cultural mobility can contribute to a more inclusive and rights-based cultural landscape.

Through keynote interventions, panel discussions and exchanges between practitioners and policymakers, participants will explore innovative models for cultural mobility that foster accessibility, participation and cross-border collaboration.

KEA is proud to contribute to this conversation as a co-organiser of the conference alongside Art Explora, Spazju Kreattiv, The Island Club, Culturgest, Anima Pictures and the Kamel Lazaar Foundation.
